Joseph Isaac Stone

Joseph Isaac Stone, 82, of Trumann, Arkansas and previously of Rockford, Illinois, fell asleep in the Lord on September 24, 2015. He was born on April 1, 1933 to John and Mary (Warner) Stone in Walnut Ridge. He married the love of his life on September 6, 1952. they made their home in Rockford for 61 years developing countless deep friendships. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1953 until 1955. Joe loved his daughter Darla and her husband Jim Kellett. He was very proud of his grandchildren Abby Kellett of Little Rock and Keenan (Lauren) of Searcy. Even though he was a quiet man, he was happy to talk about them to whoever would listen. He was a longtime member of the North Park Church of Christ, Machesney Park, Il, where he served as an elder, deacon, and teacher. He loved the Lord with all his heart as well as all those with whom he served and worshipped. Joe was passionate about Rockford Christian Camp. He devoted many laborious hours of service for that cause including as a member of the Board of Directors. He worked at National Lock Company for 30 years retiring in 1982. Post retirement he enjoyed working for Bunger Heating and Cooling. He and Wanda moved to Trumann in May 2014 to be near his children, grandchildren, sister Janie Elwanda Baltz and other family and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers: William (Mammoth Springs, AR), Harold (Rockford, IL), Frank (Roby, MO), and John (Dover, DE), Joe was a humble, patient and gentle man who lived his life quietly serving and loving like Jesus. He was young and healthy at 74 years until the treatment of Multiple Myeloma and Polythycemia Vera began to weaken his physical body. He valiantly fought the rare combination of blood diseases and the effects of the treatments. Funeral will be Monday, at 11:00 A.M. in the Bryan Chapel. Active Pallbearers will be, Jim Kellett, Keenan Kellett, Mike Stone, Josh Blakeney, Everett Kellett and Eldon Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be, Abby Kellett and Lauren Kellett. Interment will be in the Townsend Cemetery near Smithville. Visitation will be Monday 10 A.M. till time of service In Lieu of flowers gifts will be accepted by the family to establish a memorial in his memory at Rockford Christian Camp.
