Iwanda E Stone

IWANDA E. STONE, 80, of Trumann, Arkansas and previously of Rockford, Illinois, joined the love of her life in Paradise on November 1, 2015. She was born on October 9, 1935 in Smithville, Arkansas to Clifford and Mabel (Brown) Perkins. She married Joseph Stone on September 6, 1952. They made their home in Rockford for 61 years developing countless deep friendships. Wanda was a natural nurturer and servant to many but especially to her only daughter Darla and husband Jim Kellett. Additionally, her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren Abby Kellett of Little Rock and Keenan (Lauren) of Searcy. To be near their children, grandchildren, her sister Reva Dee Green and other family and friends, Wanda moved back to Arkansas with Joe settling in Trumann in May 2014. They continued to spend time at the place they loved most - the family farm in Smithville as well. She was a longtime member of the North Park Church of Christ, Machesney Park, IL. She had an especially tender heart toward those in need prompting her to give generously from her talents not the least of which was from her kitchen. She loved the Lord with all her heart as well as all those with whom she served and worshipped. Additionally, she was just beginning to enjoy those kinds of friendship at the Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro. Wanda was passionate about Rockford Christian Camp and what it means to the spiritual development of young and old alike. She devoted many laborious hours of service in the RCC kitchen. She is known for her Wanda Rolls and Apple Butter by all those who passed thru her mess hall. Wanda was preceded in death by her grandparents George and Lula Perkins, parents Mabel and Clifford Perkins, stepmother Vida Guthrie Perkins, brothers Curtis and Kenneth Perkins, and sister Imogene Perkins. Consistent with God’s plan, Wanda leaves a legacy of a life devoted to Her Savior, her husband of 63 years, her family and friends, as well as, the many children and grandchildren she “adopted” over the years to love like they were her own. The funeral will be on Wednesday, November 4th at 11 am, with visitation from 10 am to 11 am that same day both at Bryan Funeral Home, Hoxie, AR. Burial will be at Townsend Cemetery in Smithville, AR. In lieu of flowers, gifts will be accepted by the family to establish a memorial in her memory at Rockford Christian Camp.
